Neon Genesis Evangelion is a franchise from 1995 created by Hideaki Anno. There's an anime, a manga, and multiple movies.
The anime has only one season of 26 episodes. It follows Shinji Ikari who one day, pressured by his father, has to fight creatures, Angels, by piloting a giant mecha thing called an Evangelion. We also meet other characters like Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Soryu, Kaworu Nagisa (all pilots), Misato Katsuragi, Ritsuko Akagi and other, all part of the battle against Angels.
I first watched the anime in 2020 if I remember correctly (when I was in 8th grade) and I almost immediately got obsessed with it. Maybe it was because I could relate to Shinji so much :')
